Chapter 6: The Gathering
Sunday, July 4, 2010

"Welcome! Good evening, ladies. For how many person?" the waitress addressed us.
"For ... 6 pax please. Oh! Can you get us the booth seats please?" Frida quickly told the waitress.
"Sure. Please hold on while I make arrangements for your seats." the waitress threw those words and walked off.
"Sure brings memories back, don't you think?" Frida asked.
"Yea, sure does. How long has it been when we met up in such a large group?" I asked.
"I think it's almost a year since the last one." said Lynette.
"Wow! That's pretty long." Ginnie said.
"We're all working women already. It's no surprise." Kiyo added.
"You're the same as always, Kiyo! So realist." Frida joked.
"Whatever." Kiyo replied coldly.
We all laughed out.
Just then, the waitress came back and brought us to the table.
"Can I get you our house drinks first?" asked the waitress.
Everyone was busy looking at the menu, so I told her to come back later.
I knew that they'd definitely get a drink each for themselves since it has always been that way.
I decided on what I wanted already so I was looking around the restaurant.
I thought it didn't change much ever since the first time I visited when I was still in mid-school.
"Hey, anyone decided yet?" Frida broke the silence.
"I'm all done. Heheh." I laughed.
"Well, that's for sure since you already had your menu on the table sometime ago." Frida taunt me.
"Hahah! Of course. She'd always go for the today's special or the new item." Ginnie said.
"Yep yep! Never changes her old habits." Lynette added in.
"Not to mention all of us here." Kiyo added.
"Yea, yea yea. So you all slowpokes done? At least order drinks first while waiting for the 2 superwomen." Frida said annoyingly.
"Yea, sure. I want Rainbow Sparkles." Lynette quickly said.
"Orange juice." Kiyo said.
"Island shake for me." Ginnie added.
"Alright, I'm getting Treasure Isle. And Miya, C1000." Frida said.
"You got it. Hahaha." I laughed.
Everyone also laughed and Frida gestured for the waitress to come over to take the order for the drinks.
"I think I better give Carol and Beatrice a call." I took my phone out and called Beatrice first.
Beatrice didn't pick up, so I proceeded to call Carol.
Carol picked up almost immediately.
"Hello? Miya? I'm so sorry! I'm... I'm uhhh..." Carol said.
Not waiting for her to finish, I cut her off.
"Carol. You can't make it?" I asked.
"Oh uummmmm.... Yea... I'm sorry. Josheathe's sick and my husband's on OT tonight. Let the others know that I'm terribly sorry? Please?" Carol pleaded me.
"Carol. I know you well enough. Don't worry about it. We'll meet another time. Make sure Josheathe's well, yea?" I told her.
"Oh Miya... Thanks. Take care, keep in touch alright? Oh, and ummm sorry for not visiting you in hospital." Carol apologised.
"Don't worry about it. It wasn't serious. Yea, keep in touch and take care! Bye!" I replied.
The girls were all giving the face that looked like "what? Not again.".
After hanging, I called back to Beatrice again.
She picked up after the 2nd ring.
"Hellooooo? I'm reaching the entrance, someone pick me up?" Beatrice said impatiently.
"Miya here, we'll be welcoming you.... By waving at you!" I replied her.
I gestured the others to wave their hands towards the entrance.
"Ok, I'm hanging. Come over." I said.
We could see that Beatrice was embarassed and that she was a little nervous.
"Thanks for the waaaaarrrrrrrrrrrmmmmm welcome." Beatrice said sarcasticly.
We all laughed out.
